13.13 Smoking and drinking
- Supported Lives operates a no-smoking policy in its premises, and Supported Lives staff are expected to respect this policy in Clients' homes as well.
- An agreement may be negotiated by the operational Manager with a Client that they will not smoke while staff are in their home; staff who are particularly susceptible to the effects of passive smoking, because of asthma or pregnancy for example, should not be asked to work in a smoky environment.
- Staff must not drink alcohol or be under the influence of alcohol or any controlled substances while on duty. As well as being a health risk to staff and Clients, this is a disciplinary offence.
