13.12 Environmental problems
- Any problems with access to a home, such as damaged steps or paving slabs, must be noted at assessment and in the risk assessment. Clients will be encouraged to improve the situation wherever possible. Similarly loose rugs, trailing wires, unsafe storage and other problems will be addressed with Clients at assessment/risk assessment, and remedial action agreed. Where this proves difficult, staff must be informed of the nature of the hazard.
- If there are issues with infestations (fleas, wasps' nests etc.) or bulky or hazardous waste which the Client is unable to deal with, this must be referred to the Team Leader; they will advise, and may refer on to the relevant agency /department.
